Angelica Santana

A lighting designer / illuminating engineer by day (and night), a yoga practitioner for life. After graduating from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Architectural Engineering, Angelica moved to NYC for 2 years and after to Washington DC where she has been living for the past 8 years. At PSU, she discovered Yoga as a physical practice and became curious by the overall sense of well-being she felt after class. She continued attending yoga classes every time she went back home to Puerto Rico, in NYC, and then in DC. A few years back she realized that all the classes she enjoyed the most were based on the same sequence, Ashtanga Primary Series, and that most studios she frequented were in fact Ashtanga based studios. She dug deeper and started a Mysore style practice and completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga with Carson Academy in Vinyasa, but really it was Rocket. Witnessing how 2020 has affected those around her, she wanted to share Yoga with her industry in an effort to positively impact her colleagues and friends so she founded Union Yoga. Working with Light for the last 10 years, it is now time to focus on the Light within.

“The light in me honors the light in you.”

Alan Johnson

Alan’s journey began in 2008, when he discovered “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People'' by Steven Covey. This book sparked Alan’s passion for seeking to understand others which ignited a realization of the necessity to understand himself. This journey of self discovery naturally led Alan to yoga, allowing him to apply yogic principles in his everyday life to further his awareness of self, awareness of others, and the importance of verifying one’s impacts are in alignment with one’s intentions. Through this awareness, Alan developed a practice of self mastery which unveiled Alan’s core values and overarching life mission. The joy he experienced by finding his purpose birthed a strong desire to walk with others on their path to the joy of self discovery and a mission driven life. As Alan still exists in the corporate world, he is able to guide those on a spiritual journey while still respecting the demands therein. To do this he continues to deepen his own understanding by welcoming the knowledge of 70+ awareness enhancing books per year, applying the knowledge to his own practice, sharing the knowledge with others, and learning from those he serves.

Danielle Delvecchio

Danielle took her first yoga class back in 1996, around the same time that she worked as a shampoo girl in her father’s hair salon. Something about these two experiences – the physical and philosophical practice of yoga, and the ability to affect others through positive, nurturing presence – is what eventually inspired her on this journey of teaching. She knows that most of her students are in the hustle and grind of that corporate world that she left behind, and she leans into her past experiences to create sequencing and intention that speak to their needs - body + soul. Whether it’s through her flow, meditation, or restorative classes, she aspires to create a space for students where they can find freedom and feel cared for. Expect full vulnerability, honesty, and connection - from her, and for yourself. https://danielledelvecchioyoga.com/

Catherine Marquette

Catherine has been practicing yoga for more than 20 years after injuries from her competitive running days forced her to hang up her spikes and instead roll out her mat. She began teaching roughly 13 years ago, becoming a teacher trainer 10 years later. A dedicated student to the Iyengar approach, Catherine has more than 1,000 hours of training and teaches and trains teachers in the YogaWorks method, an approach to yoga that combines Iyengar and Ashtanga principles into an accessible style focused on smart sequencing and alignment (asana), breath work (pranayama) and meditation (dharana and dhyana). Catherine incorporates her daily moving, breathing and sitting into her “day” job at RedPeg Marketing, where she is Vice President of Partner Services and serves as a member of the senior-leadership team. www.movebreathebe.co

Brendan Smullen

Brendan first started practicing yoga in high school to alleviate anxiety and continues to practice for this and the physical benefits. As an embodied practitioner, he seeks to share sensations and experiences within postures separate from the aesthetics. After taking his first powerflow class in Washington, D.C. Brendan initiated a daily practice. Though the outcomes may vary, the presence on the mat is the foundation. Brendan infuses mindful movement with empowering postures and ever present breath. Practitioners are encouraged to deviate and take their own journey, learning through body awareness. Brendan is trained in Powerflow Vinyasa and Progressive Ashtanga.
